Two slightly different views of the same barn

I pass this barn almost every day coming home from work. I've meant to stop and shoot for months now, but there has always been too much traffic on the road at the end of the day when the light is best. With the snow storm, the light was flat all day, so I could visit the location in the middle of the day and shoot without becoming a hood ornament on some motorist's vehicle.

I'm not exactly happy with either crop. I should have tried something in the middle of the two. I may later try cropping these and seeing how they look.

Image made with a Mamiya 6 loaded with Kodak 400 T-max B&W film.

  1. Looks more like a shed then a barn. If you pass by here every week maybe you could get a few more photos during the year. Spring, Summer and Fall photos taken from a specific point, just like I do with the old tree.

  2. It really gets the sense of being out of time when you photograph in black and white. The style reminds me of similar farm structures here.

  3. I'd planned to go back and shoot there some more. Because of the orientation, I need to shoot late in the day or else deal with heavy shadows.

  4. And yes you are right it is more of a shed than a barn. It is actually an old railroad car.
