Thermal Image of the dog

Took a shot of the dog with the new SeeK thermal camera. Curious how his head is significantly warmer than his body. I guess that should be surprising since he is a snow dog.

These thermal cameras should not be confused with our IR converted cameras. The IR converted cameras only see in the near Infrared part of the spectrum. That's basically the light just beyond what we can see in the red direction. To actually image head requires reaching much further into the IR spectrum.

Thermal Camera

We got a new toy. A thermal imager that connects to our cell phone. We looked at the FLIR products first, but they were mostly compatible with Apple phones. So then we found SeeK, and it claimed to be Android friendly. Turns out that its strictly true. This device won't work with either of our Nexus phones, but it will work with my old Moto G.

A new roof

Had some hale damage to our roof a month ago. The roofing company came out a week ago today to stage all of the shingles and other supplies.

Harvest

While not the first items from our yard this year, this is the first time we've had an arm full at one. Expect more to come as the tomatoes reach maturity.

Happy Cholla Cactus

Our Cholla cactus in the front yard is full of blooms and is making the bees very happy. Last night's hail didn't seem to damage it.

Hail damage

Checking the house out for damage and found where the hail punched right thru the lid of a garbage pail.

Hail

Got some serious hail last night. Average size was that of a marble, but a few were the size of a quarter.

Flags

I liked the reflection of the flags here. I'd wish there was more wind to make them wave.

A bit past prime.

These beautiful buds at my Mother's house are just a bit past their prime. Lately I've been getting back to things like this just too late.

Around the neighborhood

I have no idea what this is, but its pretty spectacular. If its still decent looking by the weekend, I may go back and try it in B&W.

Empty playground

I like photographing old and empty playgrounds. Here I especially liked the interplay between the basket pole and its shadow.

Picked up a new art book from my recent visit to the Colorado Photographic Arts Center. We'd gone to see this exhibit at the gallery.

Went to the last of the Moab Photography Symposium's this year. After 15 years, the organizer is calling it quits. These are two infrared images that I made at last year's symposium.

Pinhole day Extra

I found an extra shot I'd lost track of. So that makes a total of seven.

This is a group of re-enactors in their camp. 17th century camping in snow is not a lot of fun!

Specifics: Image made with a Travelwide 4x5 camera and a f/285 pinhole, film is Fuji Neopan Acros 100 4x5 sheet film. Normal development with Clayton F76+ developer.

Building the ramp

We attended this year's Hops and Handrails brewfest. The event is intended as a fundraiser for the Left Hand Brewery foundation which supports local community needs. One of the attractions, other than the beer, is the snow ramp. Here they are building it the morning of the festival.

Hops and handrails

Went to a local brewfest this weekend. This was my favorite shirt.
