Lake Waneka awaits winter

 The other day we headed over to our local open space park to capture the reduced water levels in Lake Waneka, but recent rains had partially refilled it. I decided to play with the panorama feature on my phone and was very happy with the result. 

Our local park suspended all water based activities this summer because of the ongoing water shortage resulting from the drought. This summer started very dry, but around August the monsoon pattern started up and we were getting significant dumps about every ten days. Now we have just enough water for our migrating Canada geese as they migrate through.

Storms Bring Rainbows

We've had a lot of rainbows lately with the heavier than normal monsoons, and on que we had one at the concert.......

I darkened the image so you could see a hint of the second rainbow........

I went to see YES, and memories of my childhood (real childhood, I was not yet a teenager when I started listening to them......

But Styx was the headliner.  I also enjoyed them, I was a fan back in the day!

No Mosquitoes!

Last year's Greeley Stampede was under a threat of West Nile Virus due to an over population of Mosquitoes.  This Year they weren't taking any chances:

Holiday Weekend at the Greeley Stampede

It's America's Birthday and we celebrated at a concert last night in Greeley, Colorado:

 Featuring the Blue Oyster Cult and Cheap Trick........................

 The Greeley Stampede began in 1922, and is one of the Oldest ongoing Rodeo Events in the United States.

Humid Green

Something that I miss living in the west is that rich "humid green" that I grew up with.  I take the term "humid green" from an acquaintance that had grown up in California and moved to Missouri.  That's how she described the view from the airplane window as she flew home to St Louis.  it makes me think that I may want to retire back to my childhood home in Ohio.......
