There's a House in My Park!

Actually, Eldorado Canyon State Park was a privately owned resort in the early part of the last century.  President Eisenhower and Mamie spent their honeymoon there in 1916.

So there were a few property owners 'grandfathered in' when the canyon was purchased by the state in 1978.  So they drive through the Park to get to their homes.

We'll spen this week visiting the park.........

The Denver Botanical Gardens

Recently we visited the Denver Botanical Gardens.  Our purpose was to see the Henry Moore exhibit.  But we actually enjoyed the flowers most.  Here a scene from the xeric garden.

As you can tell, I have a keen interest in gardening!

Father's Day Activities

Not much fun for the 'dad' at our house.  We spent the day working on our deck.  The temporary fence keeps the dogs out until it's dry.

Purple Iris

You've seen the two-tone ones earlier.

The previous owners must have loved purple.  Most of the original flowers were purple.  I'm trying to establish a mqre aesthetic color balance.

Lettuce

I decided to try my hand at container gardening this year.  I keep wanting to call it 'pot' gardening, but that has different implications.

Lettuce has been very successful.  I strongly suggest lettuce as a place to start.

Summer Days at Brainard Lake

Crossing the bridge for the Long Lake Trail

One of the smaller lakes that feed Brainard Lake.

We camped here last July, when the campground first opened.  A very short season in the high mountains.
