50mm Project

A new project to be featured on these pages in the 50mm Project.  This being the normal lens for a 35 mm camera, and inspired by a new blog that I am following.  I'm not sure what the digital equivalent is, since it varies slightly from 35mm.

And so we begin:

  1. The approximate equivalent for a crop frame sensor is either the 35mm f1.8 from Nikon or the 30mm f1.4 from Sigma. I have used my 50mm f1.8 on my old film cameras for years and I find that the Nikon 35mm f1.8 is a very able replacement on my D90.

I now use my 50mm mainly for portraits on the D90 for all the reasons listed here: http://thephotophile.blogspot.com/2011/01/50mm-f18-as-portrait-lens.html

Good luck with the 50mm Project!
