The markings on this one remind me of the California Condor. Specifically the white patch on a black body, and the red head.

Butterfly Pavilion 1

Went to the Butterfly Pavilion this last weekend in the nearby community of Broomfield. Took advantage of their photographers program where we're allowed to bring tripods and gain entrance an hour before the regular opening time.

Snowmageddon

 The recent snow seemed to bring out some strange characters.

This is part of the sign outside of the Denver Butterfly Pavilion. A larger than human sized Praying Mantis.

Black barn

 A barn from an active farm. The black and green color scheme is unusual, at least around here.

Barn and snow

 After a recent snow we went out to shoot some of the local barns. This one, while boarded up, is in pretty good repair.

Full Moon

 Last month's full moon coincided with a clear night, so I went out to the local park to see what I could capture. I was a bit late, so the Moon was higher than I wanted, but I liked the glow on the lake. I'm getting strange reflections from the stock lens. that the green disk below the Moon. I need to try with a fixed lens and see if I can eliminate it.

Dirty Jeep

Got a new se of tires. Their slightly wider, which means they spray the side of the car with mud. When I first saw the pattern I immediately thought of a Jackson Pollock painting.

Transporting a horse carriage

They have a winch that tows the carriage into the van. 

This is how you transport a $40K horse carriage - in a semi. 

I've seen race cars in seedier vans.
