Saguaro National Park: Infrared Adventures

On a recent visit to Saguaro National Park, Arizona, I spent a couple of days shooting my Nikon-1.  I had the Nikon-1 converter to full spectrum a few years ago and I use filters to limit the range of spectrum photographed.  Every other day or so for the rest of January I will be posting this location.

This image below is the Saguaro that I am currently using as the Banner Photo for my Fine Arts Blog.

And a alternate view of the same cactus which I decided just wasn't appropriate for a banner.

Tell me what you think.........

Solargraphy and the SolarCan

There are many ways to make a Solargram.  One of the best methods is the SolarCan.  So what is a Solargram?  A definition from SolarCan:

"Born from a love of photography, art & astronomy Solarcan is a unique camera designed to produce extreme time exposures that capture the Sun’s path across the sky."

So Basically it is a Pinhole designed to withstand weather and can be left outside for months/years.  Two of my Solargams from this year (the rest are still cooking):

Above,   an image from my backyard that I've done before.  Below, a view looking SW from my mother-in-laws back yard,

See the setup/placement in the SolarCan Archives.

What's Up for 2021?

First, A Very Happy 2021 New Year!

For 2020 I took over this Blog as my local "Life and Times" around the Colorado Front Range.  And it will continue much the same, but with a few major refinements............

  • I've been involved in a number of Photo Challenges on Twitter sponsored by Ilford Photo and @_JasonAvery.  But how would you know that since they don't cross post?  Well I tried this method out in December 2020 with some success.  So the #Challenges will continue to cross post.
  • More about My Personal Arts & Music Activities
  • A place for my Digital Images, especially like the IR-image above...
  • Continued Gardening News (Nope the Green tomatoes don't stop)
  • More News from Neighbors and Lafayette, CO Activities
  • Making the Font easier to read (Arial)
And remember to check out My Fine Art Blog...........

So, any suggestions?  Does this cover it?  Let me know!

Northwestern Wins Citrus Bowl!

I was just looking through the Satellite schedule trying to  find something worth watching.  Came Upon the Citrus Bowl with one of my schools playing.   AND NU was ahead.  So I decided to watch.

The Wildcats ended up winning 35-19.
As an NU Alumni Gotta Celebrate That!
