The Year 2022 in Review: Celebrations
The next series of blog entries will showcase our celebrations from 2022. We start at the end of the year, with Christmas, and then work back to the summer.
Despite multiple health complications this fall I wanted to have a tree this year. So we got one of the neighbor kids to help us and got it up at the last minute.
We invited other friends and family to the dinner, but it ended up being more intimate with just the two of us. Hoping you had a happy holiday too!

Happy Veterans Day
For Veteran's Day, a tribute to one of my true heroes. Colin Powell.
General Powell and I share that we are both descendants of West Indians and have a connection to New York. It also turns out that he had an interest in film photography in his youth.
While searching for images of Powell, I discovered this image of him from 1954. An old school film selfie using a mirror.

Remember Memorial Day
Greetings all. We are moving into our first Holiday weekend. On Memorial Day, founded by President Lincoln for the Civil War, we remember those who have given their lives for this country.
And we post the Organ Mountains of New Mexico to honor them.

9/11
I thought it appropriate to share FDR's real quote from his first Inaugural Speech:
"So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and of vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. And I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days."
We need to avoid the "Terror that Paralyzes".........
For 9/11 let's give FDR's full quote some thpought.
