In my Mothers neighborhood, one of her neighbors has recently started parking their old rust bucket 4x4 on the street in front of their house. Because its an HOA neighborhood, he decided to decorate it with a Christmas bow to get around the rule about parking derelict vehicles on the street.

More playing around with the 403 UV pass filter
Here's a test of the 403 filter again, but this time I converted it to B&W. I need to try this again and shoot with both the 403 filter and a standard IR filter to see the difference.

Some more Christmas color
We have two houses in the neighborhood that seem to be competing this year for the best light show. Its put the rest of us to shame.

Playing with UV spectrum
For Christmas I got my wife a Nikon 1 converted to shoot full spectrum. That means all the blocking filters have been removed from in front of the sensor. the camera is now sensitive to the full range of spectrum, from around 310nm in the UV up to at least 900nm into the IR. The camera came back from Kolari Vision last weekend and have been trying it out. I bought a B+H 403 UV pass filter to try out. What I discovered was an image like this. Not what I expected. After a bit of digging I discovered that the 403 filter leaks IR light. So this image is actually a natural blend of UV and IR light. That's where the purple sky is coming from. I need to play around some more with this.

Full spectrum camera
Had an old digital camera converted to full spectrum by Kolarivision. That means it can now capture radiation ranging from UV (300nm) up to IR (900 nm). This image shows the influence of ir through the false redish tones in the vegetation. The UV influence seems too subtle to show up in this image.

More of the Corn palace
A few more of the Corn Palace murals.
This was interesting because it showed an area being resurfaced. Since the surface material is taken from corn stocks. The mural is set up like a paint by numbers project.

Dignity
From Wikipedia
Dignity (a.k.a. Dignity of Earth & Sky) is a sculpture on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River near Chamberlain, South Dakota.[2] The 50-foot high stainless steel statue, by South Dakota artist laureate Dale Lamphere, depicts an Indigenous woman in Plains-style dress receiving a star quilt.
