Boulder Open Space

An IR image of the nature trail just outside of work. With all of the rain this year, everything is exceptionally lush. The IR sensor gives the scene an other worldly appearance.

Red Poppy

This year we added red poppies to the yard. Previously we'd only planted yellow/orange varieties.

Poppies

One of the many poppies in our front yard. Some, like this one, are very delicate and rarely last more than a day.

Farming life

Farming life in Boulder County. All the local farms are currently harvesting hay from their fields. For quite some time I've driven by scenes of hay bales out in the filed and wanted to try making an image out of what I saw. The problem often had was that after a few days the bales were removed. So unless I acted quickly I'd miss what i wanted to capture. This is another IR image.

High Clouds

When we stopped at Bear Lake, just off of the Peak to Peak highway we were treated by these interesting high altitude clouds. Shot with my IR camera, it really picks out the contrast between the clouds and the sky.

On the road to the Peak to Peak highway

This is an IR image of the road above James town, on the way to the Peak o Peak highway. The barn was a fantastic structure that I definitely want to get back to photograph some more.

Moose Munching

We saw our first Moose in the North Park area. This guy was munching alongside the Highway 14, just east of Cameron Pass. While North Park is known as the "moose capital of Colorado," we've never seen moose there until now.

Historical records dating back to the 1850s indicate that moose frequently wandered from Wyoming into northern Colorado, but never established a stable breeding population. In 1978, after years of discussion and debate, state wildlife experts transplanted 24 male and female moose from Wyoming and Utah to create a breeding population in North Park. By 2012, the reintroduction program had established a breeding population of about 2,300 moose in Colorado. Currently Colorado is one of the few state with a growing moose population. (Source)

Playground in Karval Colorado

Stopped and ate lunch in the city park in Karval Colorado. Everything was well maintained, but didn't see a single person. The place had an abandoned feeling to it.
