Photographing photographers: Waldrof

This pump collected waste water from the Waldorf mine shaft and pumped it uphill to the Santiago Mine, where it was used for processing the pulverized rock.

A Prehistoric Guest?

Shopping Friday for a fish dinner and met up with this fellow.  A Monk Fish.  I was told that they are very tasty.  But not for Friday's Dinner.  We had the stuffed sole instead (lower right).

Crystal

These images are from the same shot. I'm trying to decide which I prefer the horizontal because it focuses on the most interesting part of the subject.

But I like the crystal quality of the vertical image. I'm happy with both.

Chimney

Chimney detail from house at the Bluebird mine town site.

… and fog

Took an evening course on shooting smoke and fog. These last two images are examples of the fog we shot using dry ice. I learned a lot about how to use lighting to bring out details.

I have a number of these images, but they require a lot of post-processing work, so I'll add them slowly over the next week.

Three

Here are three shots of an abandoned building near the Cardinal mine. Each with a slightly different take on what was there. I can't decide which I prefer. Each has its positives.

Mill for the Cardinal Mine

The Cardinal Mill was built in the 1890s for gold being mined out of the Boulder County Mine, and it remained open throughout the World Wars to process tungsten.

Winter along Lake Waneka.
This is just after a blowing snow storm and the snow is still sticking to the fence.

Tomatoes

The garden has reached peak production. We are now getting more fruit than we can eat.
